Capacitive Touch Technologies
The projected capacitive touch technology enables multi-touch and gesture recognition through transparently laminated glass fronts.
The sensor is built with two ITO-coated layers (indium zinc oxide), which displays the X- and/or Y- axis of an electric field. The sensor fields are constructed squarely and placed next to each other. The field lines of the sensor zones are projected over the touch area. A touch by a finger creates a change of capacitance between the electrodes. This change is recognised by the PCT-controller and converted to X-Y coordinates.
The operational life of the projected capacitive technology is virtually infinite. The distribution into defined matrix fields allows the PC touch screen to be completely free of drift and to always have the exact position.

The projected capacitive touch technology of AMT (http://www.amtouch.com.tw/products/projected-capacitive-touch-screen) is used in SCHURTER solutions. Details for different controllers can be found at AMT (http://www.amtouch.com.tw/products/projected-capacitive-touch-controller).
